Case Study: How a Melbourne Plumbing Business Recovered 27 Missed Calls a Week
A Melbourne plumbing business was missing calls constantly. They were busy, which was the problem. Busy on jobs meant phones going to voicemail, and voicemails going unreturned until end of day.
By the time callbacks happened, a chunk of those leads were already gone.
What we built
- Calls still forward to the owner's mobile as normal
- When a call is missed, an automated SMS fires within 60 seconds
- The message: "Hi, sorry I missed your call. I'm on a job right now. What do you need help with?"
- Replies come back to the owner's phone like a normal text conversation
No app. No dashboard to check. Just an SMS conversation that picks up where the missed call left off.
What happened
In the first few weeks, the owner started recovering calls he'd have previously just lost. Not all of them, but enough that it was obvious. Leads that texted back got booked. Leads that didn't, at least got a response.
The workflow hasn't changed since we set it up. It just runs.
If you're a tradie or service business missing calls during the day, this is probably the highest-leverage thing you can automate. It takes about a day to build, and recovering one job pays for months of it.
